Syrenne Anu was born and raised in Sydney and is proudly of both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage. She is currently working as a freelance photographer, videographer, editor and an Arts Production Assistant with Ngakkan Nyaagu, an Aboriginal owned and operated digital agency.
Growing up, Syrenne was surrounded by the performing arts and Indigenous media industry, and as a young person showed a natural talent in documenting and portraying stories. She has a Certificate III Film & Editing from the Australian Film Television and Radio School and a Certificate IV in Screen and Media from Eora College for the Arts.
Syrenne’s experience in the creative sector, on both sides of the camera, has provided her with a means to help others tell their stories. She is passionate about suicide prevention and is particularly interested in educating herself further to help pave the way for others, especially in her own community.
