Through targeted campaigns, Culture is Life encourages all Australians to deepen their connection with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures and to contribute to reshaping an Australian identity that is inclusive of the cultural lineage of our country and enriching for all Australians.
2018 sees Culture is Life launch IT’S TIME FOR CHANGE campaign (Jan 16 – 26, 2018) asking all Australians to have a think about how young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, their families and friends feel about the nation celebrating Australia Day on January 26. In 2017 we ran three national campaigns:
- What’s Missing marked the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination and National Harmony Day (March 21) by inviting every Australian to reject racism and deepen their connections with the long and impressive story of the first Australians.
- We Thrive marked National Youth Week (Mar 31 – Apr 9) by inviting all Australians to celebrate the abundance of talent in our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people from across the country.
- Are We Ready asked all Australians to deepen their connection with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and cultures during NRW 2017 (May 27 – June 3) by reflecting on the ways friendships between Aboriginal and non–Aboriginal people have reshaped individual perspectives and enriched lives.
